An attempt at a mosaic, of srts

I haven't imaged M31 for a few years so I thought I'd try again, only this time I would take a 6 panel mosaic luminance with the ASA and overlay it onto a color data image taken with the ever so humble FSQ106. The color was taken with a OSC camera.

It turned out OK, but it will not challange the Gendler super duper colossal mosaic. I really have to take my hat off to you guys that shoot a lot of mosaics. I didn't enjoy the process at all. I guess it is not my bailwick.

Have a look and let me know what you think. Ya, it could be better but I have little patience with galaxies. I just slapped this together without much effort. I'll try to work on it later if I get time.

Wish I could see it from my location! I'm not keen on mosaics for the sake of doing a mosaic, but for subjects this large they are a must. To my eye this is a very fine image indeed Tom!

Nothing humble about that effort Tom - my only comment would be it looks a bit "blue".

I'm interested in your technique of using the large scope for luminence and then the smaller one for colour.

Great vista. A lot of details visible in that shot. Very interesting field. As mentioned before maybe a bit blue and saturated. Top work though.

Quick question re the KAI-11002 sensor.. working at f3.5 you obviously have almost zero tolerance for sensor tilt. Did you find the 11002 sensor to be accurately aligned in your camera when you received it or did you have to do some user calibration?

I had to adjust the faceplate of my QHY9 to compensate for sensor tilt of the KAF-8300 sensor (the Kodak spec of +/-0.25mm is ten times more than my tolerance at f3.3). I'm interested to know if the KAI-11002 is built to tighter standards or whether some of the camera makers are calibrating/adjusting sensor tilt themselves?
