Minor Planet 700 Auravictrix animation

Hi Everyone!

Last week I had my first serious astrophotography imaging session ever. I was testing out new gear including a GSO 8RC and my QHY5 guider.

When photographing M20 I managed to also captured the movement of Minor planet / asteroid 700 Auravictrix (mag 12 approx, and 15km diameter).

So I thought I'd make an animation out of it (also a first for me).

Details: a mix of 3min - 9min exposures. Almost a 100% crop. Movement captured over a 45min period.

Scope: GSO 8RC
Camera: Unmodded Canon 20D
Mount: HEQ5

I love these sorts of things and can't wait to chase some much fainter objects.

Things usually move so (relatively) slowly in the universe that it's nice to see something move.

I agree, seeing things move around makes everything so much more alive and gives a great perception of depth and distances.

Great going Dave! You've shown it up really well there, and its worked out with nice smooth spacings.

The zoomed in field also shows just how nice and round your stars are for a first effort. Better write down everything you did, just in case.....
