Excellent mosaic work Bert. Its always special to have resolution in such a wide field of view. Did you also blend in some of your longer focal length data on the space spider from the SN10? If not, its worth a shot to add an extra dimension to this vista. You've managed the stitching quite well - never an easy task when data is taken over different nights. Well done.

Hi Bert

That is the best I have seen yet.

I like to play with your large aperture photos in stellarium. The latest version 0.10.1 that I compile has a new method of displaying textures which allows building up large mosaic displays that blend in invisibly with the background stars.

The nebula feature in stellarium does not overlay textures with FOV's larger than 1 degree with any accuracy but when I cut the large photos into 1 degree squares they can be fitted much better as a mosaic. I did this with your eta carina and previous lmc textures and they look absolutely real with some careful manipulation of brightness levels.

If you are interested in looking at the results you will need to download the beta version of stellarium and I can then post the necessary upgrade files to bring it up to the current level with the modified textures.json and then I can send you the mosaic sections to add to make up the display as they are not for public distribution without your permission.

Barry
