I've finally got around to doing some proper (well, sort of) tests with my Burren's modified 30D (

I had the standard filter replaced with a clear one, so now it covers from about 250 in the UV () to somewhere past 1000 nm in the IR.
I've attached a few photos... What do people think about the colours etc?
The photo names are like "WB489_BW486.jpg". What this means is - 'custom White Ballance with B+W 489 filter on lens, photo taken with B+W 486 filter' and so on.
Or to list them all..
AWB - Automatic White Ballance
WB486 - custom WB with B+W 486 UV/IR blocking filter
WB489 - custom WB with B+W 489 UV/IR blocking filter
WBR72 - custom WB with Hoya R72 Visible blocking / IR Pass filter
NoFilter = No Filter
BW486 = B+W 489 UV/IR blocking filter over lens
... you get the picture...
All photos were taken between 4 and 5 pm, with a 17 - 85 Canon zoom set at 20 mm. The camera was set on Av (F5.6 and about 1/320s) except the photos with the R72 which were on manual as the exposure meters overexposes by about 10 stops with the R72. Interestingly, the autofocus still works with the R72, even though I can't see a thing through the viewfinder.
I'd like to try some UV photography, but I need a Uv pass filter - expensive - and a lens that is UV transparent. I believe some of the old (pre 1960's) lenses are, as are plastic lenses.
By the looks, I can only put up 8 photos at a time, so I'll do it in a few posts.
