Jupiter from Melbourne Jan 7, 2016

Hi guys,

The weather has been average in Melbourne this week, but despite the flickery seeing this morning which is typical of January, was able to put the ZWO 174mm through it's paces and capture something during some moments of steadier seeing.

Some good details visible and my first L(IR)RGB image for this apparition. Even since last month, Jove has indeed grown. If the seeing now co-operates!!

Thanks Mark. It varied from 38FPS in IR to 65FPS in Red. How does that compare with your set up? See attached capture cards which I don't mind sharing. Would expect this to improve as Jove gets bigger.

great result John as always. the ZWO seems to be performing well. i have been extremely impressed by the level of quality that the ZWO brings for what is a very affordable planetary imager/guider.

Thanks John for sharing your setup. I should really invest some time and switch to FireCapture as I'm still using IC Capture.

In the past I have tended to run 30fps but I have recently acquired some new fitting to allow me to run a bit shorter focal length and on the morning of 7th Jan I ran 60fps. On the weekend I'll post a couple of images and some more details.

Totally agree - great value for money - there are better cameras out there but would cost more.
