I have 3 questions...
1) I take it the 1000D is spectrum modified can you confirm?
2) What is the LP filter? Is it the IDAS LP from Hutech?
3) 2" ? 1.25" ? On camera type?
Ok there's more than 3 questions snuck in there but you get the jist of it I guess.
How much LP do ou get down there - say in comparison to Melbourne suburbs? Did the LP filter allow you more acquisition time before being flooded with unwanted skylight?
Damn.. more questions! Sorry.
Bruce.

Haha ask as many questions as you like
The 1000D is astro modded, i pulled only the IR block filter out.
The LP filter is the Astronomik CLS CCD 2". I bought the 2" over the clip-in because eventually I want to move to mono CCD imaging and I want to still use this filter.
As for the severity of LP here in a Melbournian suburb, well, have a look at the first picture below. It is 60secs, taken last night, versus with the LP filter about 10 mins later. No moon, bit of humidity though. The LP filter gives a blue cast, but much darker skies. The blue is easy to remove.
With the 8" F4, within 4-5 minutes the histogram gets white clipped ( without the filter ). Very bad at times.
Im hoping that when more homes are built around me, some of the direct light from the street will be blocked, and should help a little.
I hope I answered your questions Bruce.

Thanks Rowland. I meant that from the point of view that I hadn't planned to go out last night, and was a quick setup for the sake of testing out the LP filter which I've had for three weeks+ and wanted to see if it was a waste of money or not
I didn't actually plan to take a set of exposures of any particular object ( which is a shame ). My guidescope dewed up after only a couple hours anyway. I need dew heaters for winter now.
Will this money pit ever end?
