First Saturn (in mono)

Hi there!

At long last, I had my first go at Saturn last night. The seeing conditions were far from ideal as there had been a large industrial fire a few kilometres away in the afternoon. As a result, a haze of smoke lingered in the sky all night.

The image is rough and noisy, still I am very happy I managed to get something. I can't wait to try again!

ASI120MM, 68 fps, 640x480.

Cheers,

Eric

Good stuff Eric. Keep getting out there & practising, forgetting about the conditions is the only way IMO. The main things that are under your control are cooldown times for the newt & collimation. As to the seeing - who cares lol.

Great start!

Thanks guys for your support and for your indulgence.

John, you are too right. I intend to practice as much as I can, good seeing or bad seing, like I have done for the Moon and Jupiter, in order to develop a technique and experiment.

Cheers,

Eric

Excellent image, Eric. What sized scope were you using?

Thank you Allan (your Saturn picture is great!)

I am using my 10" dob, the ASI120MM and a x2.5 powermate.

I try to have another go this week now that we can catch Saturn 1 hour earlier.

Cheers,

Eric
