Hirsch eBay f/6.3 focal reducers - any one tried them?

Hi all

I've just bought a 2" "Hirsch" f/6.3 focal reducer off eBay for US$63 plus $11 delivery. Not bad if it works when it gets here. Works out to be just less than 1/2 price of their cost here, and I have a suspicion that they're out of the same factory as the Meade and Celestron ones anyway....

Does anyone have one of these and if so how do they find it? I've heard of some of their other products and the general consensus is that they're OK for the money.

Well - I ordered and paid for it on the 18th of November, and today is the 26th. It's here. That's 5 working days from the USA via standard USPS. Incredible.

Anyway - I'll give it a go tonight out in the back yard - at least visually to see how it looks. I'm hoping that it's reasonable to the edge.... but we'll see.

I'll keep you posted.

Hi, I have being looking at this brand of focal reducer to and would like to hear what you think of the quality.

Well, I finally got to try it out in a side-by-side comparison with my new Meade f/6.3 reducer.

To tell you the truth, I can't tell the difference. Not bad for the AU$70-odd bucks.
