REDUCED For Sale: Celestron Advanced Astromaster with Encoders - Will post
Hi All,
I am putting this up for sale as I am intending to upgrade.
This is a great upgrade to any non-goto scope. Perfect for a Dob. This is not a goto its a push to. Once you to the alignment process, you can ask it to locate a object and it will give you push to directions.
Basically I am selling the DSC + 2 encoders + Cable to connect encoders.
You will need work out how to mount this to your telescope. You can get encoder mounting kits from Wildcard-Innovations to suit your telescope. I also have the manual for this unit plus some bits and pices for it from its orginal mounting kit. Looks like parts to attach to a Fork assembly.
One of the encoders has a broken pin and I have remedied this by placing a stapler in its place and taping up the cable to it. It works quiet well. I have a mate at work who has offered to see if he can replace the pin. I will look into this on Monday and report back.
This DSC does not have a PC connection. Its standalone and has inbuilt database of items sufficient to cover our night sky. There is a port on the unit for a connection but the internal chip is not there in this version. I am told this can be added my the inventor of this unit. I have the name of the chip and it is available via RS or Farnel. However it requires also additon of some small capacitors etc. You could place a wanted add for internal photos of the unit from others who have this option. But note I am not sure the firmware inside will support the function anyway.
The price is $350 obo. plus postage in Australia.
I will add some pictures soon as I can.
1) The 1st photo shows the Alt Encoder.
2) The 2nd Photo is of the Az Encoder and cable.
3) 3rd is the AAM DSC, 4th is firmware version displayed when first turned on, 5th is the first request to level the scope and press enter.
4) 6th is an easy way of extending the cable using a RJ45-Rj45 adapter and standard network utp cable. I can throw this in for free if you want.
Regards
Fahim

Reason: add pictures
Price Reduced, and I tested it on Saturday and it still works well. Was able to put various objects within the FOV of my 25mm. You just have to make sure you level your scope correctly.
