Venus after Sunset

The second rock from the Sun, the planet Venus, shines brightly in the West after sunset over the few month. It makes a magnificent sight with the unaided eye, blazing at greater than -3.0 magniture - the brightest object in the night sky apart from the Moon. Venus and the Crescent Moon will make a beautiful pairing in the evening twilight on August 10th, so mark it in your calendars. This wonderful image was captured with a 12" telescope and Canon 600D camera.
