Looks excellent, but looks too small to be a 10" mirror?

Thanks guys. It's a 250mm F7.3 mirror the same one I made about 8 months ago. The picture might be a little misleading because it's actually a little bigger than it looks. Here is another picture (Sorry but if i turn it the right way up it comes up skinnier). The bloke in the picture is my dad and he is about 1.75m and over 110Kgs. Problems I had many. Ther were lot's of things I had to work out and improvise as well. Attaching the tubes to the secondary cage was tricky as was getting the torque equations right. I still have a little tweaking to do but I'm waiting for a clear night to do it. I'll send more pictures and a little more details during the week.

regards Cristian

Great looking scope Cristian.

Have (re)built my 8" f7 dob a couple of times in its life, and have tried to get its balance point as low as possible, but have never got it as low as you seem to have. Would love to hear how you have managed this.

Regards,
David.

Hi David I managed to get it that low by making the bottom heavier. I played around with the torque equations in Berry's book and I built a double prymary box. One box inside another, screwed and glued together out of 19mm plywood. Also the primary mirror cell I constructed out of 5 mm steel weighs about 4.5 Kgs so it was a bit of good fortune really. I'm working on a few pictures of the project and as soon as I finish I will post the whole lot.

Regards Cristian
