What's up Dennis? You're sounding a bit desperate for a night under the stars

The 29th is looking pretty good, with a back up on the 30th (May Day Monday )

Dennis , the Moon rises on the 22 April just after midnight , I will be here if you want to come over?
The following weekend is as Paul mentioned is a long weekend, so all are welcome to stay the whole three days if you want to, that is Friday Saturday Sunday nights.
Bring your tents campers or matteresses, and let's make it a Mini AstroFest .

I'm dead keen, but my work roster keeps saying otherwise .. still, I figure if I squint long enough I'll see a way to do it.

Presently it's like Super String theory - I can see a resolution, but I need 21 dimensions to make it work!

Will let you know......

Yes Paul, I AM getting desperate, I want to use the scope one more time before I strip it for painting, plus I want to see who's scope dews first and what colour it is etc. Hmmmmm, maybe Elf and Tem can come and we make a three day weekend, plenty of river fun in the daytime, caravan's still warm from our last trip, I'll talk to here about it, ask Si to come and they can natter the whole weekend away.

I'm sure Sya would love to come out except she will be working the whole weekend. I'll have a bit of a chat with her about it though and see if I can talk her into it.

Still not sure for that weekend, unless I take 1 or 2 shifts off work .... I was going to ask Ron though if he has plans and or is willing to allow my brother and I to visit on the evening of the 24th, ie next Monday night, with Anzac the day after?
If that's not convenient for you at all Ron please just say so and we'll do our best to catch up with you all another time.
Steve

Hi guys,

While I'm not able to join you for a late night session on Saturday, I thought I might try to drop by in the evening for a little while. Introduce myself and have a gander at your scopes.

What time do you normally get started?

cheers -- randall

ROn's Place

Hi All ,
First of all for Night shift . When I made my scope I painted it with Black Dulon Dulux . I bought a thermo scan gun home from work and checked it's Temperature after on hour . The top of the Tube was at ambient , the bottom( eg not pointing into the black of space was 1 degree above (.The Dob box , made of white melemine was 2 to 3 degees above .So my tube dews up first .But that is ok since I made up some dew heaters which work really well. A white tube will stay warmer longer. Mine is made from a sonotube. A metal tube may cool faster???
The mirror ( full thicknes 10") started at 23 degrees with ambient at 18 , with a computer fan at back. 1 Hr later the mirror scanned at 16.5 with ambient at 16.
Ron , I hope to make it up on Sunday Arvo. Have you made your eye piece dew heater yet?? Cheers Zub

If anyone coming to Ron's has a 2X or 2.5X powermate I would love to be able to borrow it on the night for some planetary imaging. I'd want to compare it to my achromatic barlow # 6%& @!)(*%$€

Randall, I will be there around 3:00 or so as I like to chat and have plenty of set up time.

Zub, thanks for the info, I am begining to think colour doesnt matter to dew, I have heaters for the glass bits but dont like the water running off the tin bits. I might try having it chromed????? That'd look cool.

Better get that lawn mower out Ron. If your interested I have made some dew heaters for both my Meade and my finder scope on the 12" by using ceramic resisters and some insulation, they work a treat and draw very little current, I can show you for your scope when I get there if you like.
