Went out and played with the clouds most of the time, made shooting this difficult. Sky conditions were at best, crap.... Should have stuck to widefields... Oh added a star trail pic too, did this while waiting for the clouds to go away...... Closeups taken with an 80mm refractor on an Alt/Az goto mount. Had problems with backlash so most of the images I took ended up with trails on them unfortunately.
Good work Andy? Where abouts did you take the pictures? I again woke up to cloud despite skippy indicating there shouldn't have been any cloud around. Only one really cloud free night for me so far.
They look good Andrew. like the first, looks like a torpedo (not that I know what a torpedo looks like!!).
Is the comet in the startrails?
Hi Liz, Yes it's there but cannot see it mainly due to cloud cover over it during the time I did the trail.

I was 60km east of Adelaide, at a little place called Sanderston.
I think a lot of people are being too hard on themselves lately rating
their results.
Step back and have a look at what you got there.
Those are some pretty amazing...one-off views of a comet.
Thanks for sharing them with us.

Yes I am always critical of my own images, always have been. Thanks for your comments, yes they are amazing one off's aren't they.
Thanks Andrew for posting the closeup shots! I still have your other images but am struggling to locate anything resembling a nucleus, so is tough being able to do something with this.
I found the same Terry, I could not locate one at all either, might need one of those Huge telescopes we have in Australia to train it's big eye on it. I am wondering if it's not obscured, that it may have actually disintegrated and is only being held together by gravitational forces... Only thinking aloud here... Is there some way to get the guys at the AAO to have a look?
