Lunar eclipse composite – 17mm and 400mm shots

Hello,

Here is a composite of the lunar eclipse made up from the original series of wide-angle shots taken with the 17-40mm F4L, plus a few Moon discs from the series with the 400mm F5.6L lens, pasted, sized and blended in over the original blown out lunar discs.

Fortunately, (i.e. not by planning!), I had a series of 400mm telephoto shots taken at (nearly) the same time intervals as the wide field shots.

It was a little difficult registering the re-sized 400mm lunar discs with the centre of the bloated, burned out blobs in the wide field views.

Cheers

Dennis

Well executed Dennis.

I enjoyed looking at this shot many times. Looks like Brisbane has gained another skyscraper!

Cheers,
Darrin...

Thanks for all your nice messages, their warmth is much appreciated, helping offset the chilly 3:30am start by the river! Even Mike acknowledged that we Qldrs were no longer softies, in complaining about those cool astronomy nights.

Now if only lunar eclipses occurred monthly so the lessons learned from this event could be put into practice sooner than Dec 2011!

Cheers

Dennis

Well c'mon, you QLD'ers are still soft - complaining about 10 deg

But it was colder than I expected. I'm glad you had that extra jacket for me
