Another month, another Full Moon. Trying to get back into the rhythm of astrophotography, during the May Full Moon we had great clear skies and I setup the ED80 and Canon 40D to capture some more images of our nearest celestial neighbour.
I used the same setup and same procedure as my last capture in April, but this time stacked about 65 images. The seeing was terrible, even at the short focal length of approx 1000mm. But I'm happy with the results here.
I think these ones are sharper and I like the greater contrast in these when compared with my April efforts.
The moon is a fantastic subject and I enjoy its challenges. You have managed to control the contrast well without blowing out the highlights which I find difficult to control so well done. A hardware combo I can relate to so it's great to see this image!
Thanks guys, I really appreciate your comments. It means a lot.
It's nice to be back into it.. The Moon is great because it's so quick and easy to get a decent shot.
Don't need to be properly polar aligned, don't need *great* seeing (at that focal length) to get a good image, and the whole process can be over in 20 minutes.
Thats very nicely done, remember an interview with Neil Armstrong talking about the brown/tan colours on the surface even though dust was grey close up.
Thanks Rowland. It's quite easy to overdo it or introduce too much noise etc. It's hard to be subtle sometimes

Thanks The seeing was terrible on this night so I'm hoping to have another try maybe in July and hope for better seeing to make it a bit sharper.

Thanks Mike, you gotta love a full moon though With your narrowband work now, the Moon is no deterrent?
