The Goodies return to the ABC

ABC2 are broadcasting the an episode of The Goodies for the first time in some 25-odd years... Monday 26th July, after The Colbert Report. This first episode will be Kitten Kong (final episode from season 2). My understanding is the the following week The New Office (first episode from Season 3) wil be played in the same time slot.

From the Goodies Rule OK - fan site:
The ABC in Australia will be broadcasting "Kitten Kong" on Monday, July 26th at 8pm, followed by "The New Office" the following Monday. We believe further episodes will air in the Monday night timeslot (as mentioned on http://www.tvtonight.com.au/2010/07/...es-replay.html), but are awaiting details. (Thanks to the many fans who provided this info!)
Fan club member Anthony Volpi-Furrowly Pugs reports, "I was advised that the ABC have the terrestial broadcast rights for The Goodies again after almost 20 years and hopefully, if [the forthcoming broadcasts do well in the ratings, the ABC] intend to broadcast in series order."
It's hard to believe that many of us grew up watching The Goodies on afternoon TV over 25 years ago. Comfortably nestled between shows like Roger Ramjet, Metal Mickey and Come and Get It with Peter Russell Clarke.

I am seriously looking forward to this. I have many dozens of episodes converted to DVD. We were very fortunate in Australia as The Goodies were played for years on afternoon television on the ABC, unlike in the UK where I understand there were never repeated. I put that down to the strong suggestion that the BBC were disgruntled that the three Goodies jumped ship to LWT after 8 seasons. Other suggestions were that the head of the BBC at the time simply didn't like the show.

I also saw them on stage in Melbourne in 2005 - 4 rows from the front of the stage - a very memorable evening

Hi All,

We slap that gibbon
Oh, feel the rhythm
And you'll groove
And dance up to the planet of apes

Do, do, do the funky gibbon
We are here to show you how
Ooo, ooo, ooo
Ooo, ooo, ooo, the funky gibbon

Can't wait -- long overdue.

Best,

Les D

Ahhh the Goodies, then Dr. Who.
I think Metal Mickey was about 5:30 back then?

The mining one, where they go looking for cream. The Tea and "scones", no "scoones", no Bill it's "scones", nope it's "scooones" ROFL.
My wife says Scooones, everytime she says it, reminds me of this Ep. And she's an American.

Too many to mention.

"Roger Ramjet, he's our man, Hero of our Nation" LOL

Love that one, and the Cream Mine one too! Will be looking out for these, even though I have the official release ones, but there are so many others I haven't seen for years.

This is why I have all 9 seasons digitised, as well as complete Monkey Magic. Though I must admit, earlier seasons of goodies I liked compared to the later seasons such as 8 or 9.
