Tonight's Moon - Sept 9, Brisbane.
Captured 11.13pm...tonight.
Canon 40D and 70-200mm f/4L IS USM
ISO 100, f4.5 1/320
The moon looked so lovely just rising over my neighbour's roofline, I couldn't resist grabbing a quick shot. It's nice to do this sometimes, without the hassle of setting up all the other gear.

Isn't it a lovely sight.
I'm outside now watching it rise above the trees.
(it's my first night of wireless internet, I'm loving not having to duck back inside all the time to check up on you guys

Hi Jeanette
You can also set your wireless router to only allow your lappy's MAC address to access the wireless internet so no one else can Hijack your internet.
OH YEAH that is a great Pic Matt. Sorry to go off topic

Hi Matt
I was wondering if you used any filter if you could say what it was you sure cut down the brightness around that you can get sometimes.
Thanks in advance

Hi Warren.
The only filter I had attached at the time was a standard UV.
The main thing is to watch your histogram during capture to make sure you're not getting any blown out highlights.
I also did a little fine tuning in Photoshop. Nothing fancy. Just a little levels and curves, a smidge of Unsharp Mask.
Cheers.

Nice one Matt
I have never taken images of a Waning Gibbous Moon - well past my bedtime - but I am going to get up at 4am tomorrow morning and get some images - the shadows from the other direction will no doubt confuse me!
Thanks for inspiring me to have a go!
