I have just a enquiry about any possible images done by the amateurs here of the Chameleon Cloud Complex centred on the bright nebula IC 2631, that includes the nearby dark nebulosities Be 144, Be 142 and Be 142. The whole complex lies under Carina, in northern Chameleon, and covers roughly just under 2 degrees of sky. The region lies close to the mutually shared corner with Carina, Musca and Chameleon.
IC 2631 itself lies at 11h 08.8m -76 deg 37', and is about 5 arcmin across, the position of the whole complex is centred on This region has been fairly neglected by imagers because it is below the very rich region of Carina above it. I have seen several pro photos but never seen an amateur one.
Although the region might insignificant and very probably difficult to achieve much detail, I no of no amateur image - CCD or photographic.
Any comments on this nebula region would be appreciated.

NOTE: The reason I'm asking, is at present I have been writing details on the double star DUN 107 and its surrounding region -even though it is 2.5 degrees north of this object.
i can see why its not often imaged its quite a dim area when compared to its surrounds. my program (desktop universe didnt list the ic catologue no) i did find a reflection nebulosity around hip54557 in that imediate area in a dark nebua listed as HMSTG407 so i presume thats it. its probably only an area ccd imagers would tackle i expect.
sorry i dont have anything.... and at 2.5 deg to get that in as well, is pretty widefield.
Can i enquire as to why or what are you writing about this star?
IC 2631 is not a difficult visual object. I have seen it several times with my 10" and 12" Dobs. There is a mag 9 star in it, Hip 54557 (RA: 11 09 50.1, Dec: -76 36 47). The image below is from Aladin. http://aladin.u-strasbg.fr
Just came across this post when looking up info about Integrated Flux nebulae. Here are 3 views of the Chameleon complex I tave recently taken with 300mm f2.8 lens, 6 inch f3.6 SN and 10 inch f5.6 newtonian, from my suburban backyard in Newcastle. Youre right, theres very few amateur shots of this object. All taken with a modded 350D DSLR
