First pic with new camera 47 tuc

Dear All
Well it cleared enough to have a go with my new 40D last night. I imaged through high cloud and a full moon. I felt that 47tuc was a reasonable choice considering the moon.
I was very happy with the result. The sensor is vastly bigger than my CCD camera and the single shot colour makes things much easier.
The image is a stack of 9 x 5 min exposures with darks and flats etc taken through my VC200l guided with my Q-guider on an EQ6
I haven't done any post processing apart from a log stretch. No sharpening etc.
I'm sure I will enjoy this new camera.

That's a lovely first image Terry, well done.

It's a very sharp and detailed image and nice clarity right into the core.

Cheers

Great shot.

I'm keen to see more 40D stuff as my 40D hasn't been near the scope for several weeks.

Also, I love a good glob.

As requested. This is still binned 3x3 compared to the original image.
I'm away for the next few days so hopefully it will be clear with less moon next Thursday

I don't own a reducer so it is at prime focus. Can't answer re the sensitivity as I haven't ever used any other digital SLR. It is not as sensitive as my CCD but I wouldn't really expect it to be. There is a review at http://www.astrosurf.com/buil/eos40d/test.htm and this does compare sensitivities with various cameras.

Nice work Terry! Now all we have to do is sort out the guiding with the 14" and you're in business!
Cheers!
