ebay bargain 120mm on EQ5

If you were in the market for a 120mm Achro on an EQ5, this seems pretty good. Lots of accessories with it.
Has a 'Buy it now' price of $500: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/telescope-ref...QQcmdZViewItem

Cant make out the Brand Ken, any ideas, not a bad price, actually, even if the scope wasn't that flash at least the mount would be good for some other project.

In the photo is has Skywatcher on it. Yeah, even good for just the mount. It is an EQ5 with dual drives! Steel leg model. Barlow, EP's etc.
Also comes with some sort of Astro camera
Those Skywatcher 120mm Achros are pretty good.

If I had the $$$ I'd buy it for my boys!

Very cheap if it's legit

Too late, our SVAA has bought it as a Club Scope.

Sorry to anyone else wanting it.

You've gotta be quick when these bargains come along.

It seems too good to be true Ken... Do you reckon you can post when the thing arrives... more as to will it arrive rather than condition...although all that would be good.

I will be going to pick it up Alex, at the sellers house.

Yes, I'll post about it when I get it back here.

Yep, this way ALL members get to use it

BTW, the seller has been in touch and informs me that it is a Saxon and has hand controller and dual drives.

I pick it up in the next few days.

I tried to post this yesterday, but thanks to Telstra a line fault (still ongoing intermittently) I could not make any posts, but for what it's worth, the ebay ad reads

"telescope refractor 120mm on eq5 solid steal mount"

I just wondered if this was a Freudian slip

Well done Ken! There is no risk as he gets to see it before he hands over the money. Not like an unknown package from ?.

You must have quite a collection now for the SVAA now Ken.

I have been on the phone with the seller and he seems like a very nice chap.

He has only used the scope 8 times. He bought it and had the drives fitted coz his girlfriend was into astronomy. Without going into his personal matters, he no longer has need of it, but he assures me it is still in mint condition.

I pick it up tomorrow.

Getting there, Bert.

Binoculars, the 8" Dob you bought for the Club, and now the 120mm on EQ5.

It is great that the junior members also have total access to this equipment. After all, it is theirs too.

OK, I picked up the Clubs 120mm and EQ5 today.

On first inspection I was already happy. The condition was excellent. Geez it's a big scope!!!!!

The gentleman selling it was a very nice chap. We got talking and he showed me his Lunar images he took through it. Pretty good!!!

Then I showed him our images in IIS. He was flabbergasted

He said he is almost changing his mind about selling, and get back into using the scope after seeing our images

He is going to join IIS and also the SVAA (I should be a salesman)

At Home: I assembled the scope to the mount and checked the drives. All working perfectly

Tonight I will see how accurate the tracking is.

Daylight viewing thru it gives crystal clear views.

Below:
The OTA, the mount, and the front lens. All in pristine condition.

Seen that one and wanted to buy it, but decided on a short tube refractor.

Well done Ken,

I was close behind you breathing heavily, but not nearly fast enough. Hand controller, dual drives, oooohhhh.

Cheers

Good job Ken,

yes there is a lot of dealers junk on that online selling site, but occasionally you will find something from a private seller that is good quality and well looked after. Good to see some good quality gear going somewhere where it will be used and appreciated.
