Filters for imaging

I am imaging with an unmodified CanonEOS DSLR. My skies are unpoluted and very, very dark (i live in the bush). What filter should i get to improve my images of nebulas? Is there a filter to negate the effect of the cameara's IR filter or do I have to remove it.? I'm a bit scared to do this.

Regards
Carl

Hi Carl

If you're scared to do it yourself, you can send it away to get modified, obviously at a cost. I believe Hutech do them.
