How To: Overlay Light Pollution Map in Google Earth

Hi all

Andrew Bundschuh (Kal) and Eric Kingston (erick) have collaborated to write an article describing how to Overlay Light Pollution Map in Google Earth. It's a great tool for working out how dark your observing sites or star parties are.

Thanks guys! It's a snack when you know how. I now have an overlay of light pollution covering all of NSW and Vic in Google Earth.

Does this procedure still work? I just tried this and all that happened was that a 'Big Red X' was placed over the map i wanted to overlay????

Should still work, I did the overlay a few months back.
Whenever I open GE the overlay is still there.

Yeah I'm getting the red X as well

Fixed it. I think it relates to size of image. I cropped the original image and then did an overlay and it now works.
