Thumbs up WOW! ISS+shuttle overhead this morning!

Wow, just got back in from an incredible few minutes watching the ISS go straight overhead.

Heavens-above predicted a -0.8 mag, and that may have been true once it passed the meridian, but while it was low in teh south, honestly it was at least -4! I compared it to Venus which was in the opposite side of the sky and it clearly outshone Venus!

It spent the next 4-5 minutes trailing across overhead, slowly dimming as it headed to the north east, actually going through Taurus, quite close to Arcturus and not far west of Venus.

It was an incredible sight.

I took some shots with the 350D, will process them and post them later.

Yeah ... was awesome here too!!!!!

I've been running news stories in our radio bulletins all week leading up to it...

and this morning had callers phoning in to express their delight and surprise at how bright it was. Been putting them to air as well...

I must sound like some kind of NASA/astro stooge... but who cares!

Spread the word!

Wish I'd taken some pics

I took some too and a pretty crappy video, couldnt do everything at once, and I am dissapointed with my photos and video too. Dave P needs more pats on the back for his effort

EDIT: Just to proove how bad I was look at these shots one shows the iss (obviously the streak) passing venus ( on lower right) taken with modded 300d and crop of an earlier image. you definitely need a scope I am at work and can't really post large images
