Karate Nationals

We made the trek for the Karate nationals.
Drove all Friday night to Sydney, got here about 4am.
Our son qualified for nats on a gold at state levels.
As parents we thought, oh what the hell, if we don't do it we won't ever know....
So we came over.......the boy won a silver medal in his category at Nationals!

Soooooooooooooooooooo damn proud of the little man.

Nice story Steve!

It is a long way to drive. I'm sure you will be beaming all the way back and for days
to come.

Well done Steve - to you and your son

Sponsoring your childrens interests and potential achievements is a great thing I reckon.
With or without a medal its great - but the medal makes such a great justification of the sacrifices and effort !

Well done to you and your son!

I do miss Karate - I stopped training after getting my 2nd dan. I'm doing CrossFit now and absolutely love it.

Thanks guys,

Mike I would like to take it up again too. I really only did it
for a few months to get the boy inspired, then I dropped out.
We would love his sister to try it out too. It really builds self confidence
and we have seen him grow into a very level-headed, cool young man in just
12 months.

An update,

Well, another 11 months later and we just had the boy compete in the QLD Nationals here
at Carrara, Gold Coast.
HE took out silver for Kata in his age group and silver in Kumite (sparring)
Our daughter has also been doing it for the year
