Comet C/2012 V2 (LINEAR) Sep 11

The morning sky is getting filled with comets! The recently discovered comet C/2013 R1 (Lovejoy) joins C/2012 V2 (LINEAR). Lovejoy is moving slowly north while LINEAR is moving south. Soon, comet C/2012 S1 ISON and 2P/Encke will join the crew.

Anyway, V2 LINEAR is 13x2 minute subs at ISO 400 through an SW120 5" F5 refractor, Pentax K-x, no filters. It's still quite low and in some LP for me.

Another nice comet catch - well done.... I wish I had a low east horizon (or west!) for comets....

Another comet image, lucky you and well done again. Havent spotted V2, and perhaps I should make an effort.

Thanks again Liz and Lee. My eastern sky is best. My west is.... impossible. For western sky comets I would have to go for a drive and be limited by a small tele lens.

Thanks Bob. V2 LINEAR will slowly fade as it heads south. It's presently around magnitude 9.
