Carrying on from friday's work I also imaged the running chicken nebula (IC 2944). I'm really enjoying doing these Bi-NB images, I find that SII is usually so weak that I'm better off trading that channel with more subs in Ha & OIII (especially given how far and wide clear nights are in melbourne). I also used the LRGB approach since the Ha data was alot cleaner than the OIII.
General setup
Mount: NEQ6
Imaging Train: Skywatcher Gold Series 120ED - OAG - FW (Baader 2" NB set) - QHY9M
Guiding: Lodestar used with a TSOAG9, 1sec guiding
Image processing: Captured in Maxim 5, Dark subtracted and Stacking in DSS, Editing in Photoshop CS6
L:R:G:B -> Ha:Ha:OIII:Ha+OIII -> 600sec * (4:4:5:4+5) subs
Still a bit noiser than I had hoped for, probably need more subs. Any feedback on the processing or anything else is most welcome
It's rather subjective I know but I can't say the colour combo works all that well (Hey, I've come up with some interesting colour palettes myself in the past ) ...but the details are really great Meru
Yup I do agree with you, I wasn't too happy with the colours either (In particular the green). But by the time I finished editing I couldn't be bothered changing it! Thanks alot for the honest feedback too Glad you liked it!
