Is there anyone coming up from Tas or Melbourne driving? if not...
Can you fly to Newcastle and hire a car from there?
I am not familiar with driving in Sydney so would prefer not to fly to Sydney then drive from the big smoke!

It definitely looks like you can hire cars from Newcastle airport. There's a number of companies doing it when you do a google search.

I'm finally on the verge of doing my booking. However, I'm not sure if one night's stay or two. For certain one, but if I make my booking now, can I add another night later when I'm sure I can make it for an extra day?
