It's been nearly a year, and I've finally scrounged together enough to get the camera fixed. Turns out I wasn't far off the mark in terms of what it would cost me, but the camera was repaired in a sterile environment, by the manufacturer, and I got a full CCD maintenance (sensor clean, re-gas, desiccant recharge etc) done at the same time.
Glad to hear you're back in business Troy. If its any consolation, you probably picked the cloudiest 12 months for SE Qld in recent years at least. Fingers crossed for a clear productive AF 2015
