Cool.
But it seems a shame to keep it only for flocking. How about decorating? I could do, say, the bathroom in Vantablack, and then do the fittings in regular black, you know, to brighten things up.

Damn, the box of protostar I have here is now worthless!
Seriously tho, I can't wait until they get the costs involved down to the point that its economical for us amateurs. How long do you reckon, 5, 10 years?
Love the comment on the page that references Hitch Hikers Guide (Hotblack Desiato's perfect black ship parked at the restaurant at the edge of the universe)
It was a ship of classic, simple design, like a flattened salmon, twenty yards long, very clean, very sleek. There was just one remarkable thing about it.
``It's so ... black!'' said Ford Prefect, ``you can hardly make out its shape ... light just seems to fall into it!''
Zaphod said nothing. He had simply fallen in love.
The blackness of it was so extreme that it was almost impossible to tell how close you were standing to it.
``Your eyes just slide off it ...'' said Ford in wonder. It was an emotional moment. He bit his lip.

Oh, this will make the creators trillionaires... think of the Ultra black that hides curves... the large size fashion industry will go nuts!
Also, think of the Ninja industry. All you will see is the eye slit... BANZAI!
I am a bit like Astro_Bot though - I want to paint my garage with it, then my wife can't see all the stuff in there to whine and b!tch about

If light is absorbed by it, I wonder what other spectrums it absorbs as well. Could be perfect stealth material.

The problem would be you would see (or not see) a black hole of nothingness walking around.

The quote was perfect... how prescient was Douglas Adams?
If it absorbs other wavelengths like infra red then it would negate a lot of night vision gear... once again SF to the fore ... how many writers have mentioned sneak suits!

Even though it's very expensive and no-one will probably buy it for use on a scope, just be a but careful. This is a microscopic fibrous material which is no broken down by your body, sound familiar?
Although there have been no studies yet linking CNTs with any sort of lung disease, I wouldn't be taking the risk at present. We have these at work, but they are always kept in a suspension, never dry.
And if you thing the acronym for Carbon Nano-Tubes is a bit risqué, then don't ask what they call Copper ones. I have attached the paper for those that wish to read it, but WARNING not for those easily offended.
Cheers
Stuart
