Great effort, Justin. The projection causes loss of sharpness and some chromatic issues. But the nebula was well registered. Nice color and good shape.
Why ISO 6400 ? It causes many noise. Perhaps more time of exposure with low ISO.
I reckon that a good barlow will bring better result.
Great exercise Justin and a decent result too, well done
Mike
Thanks Mike!
Always fun to experiment.

Why ISO 6400, that's easy to answer.
The focal length with eye piece projection is 3200mm, I'm using an Orion Mini guider which is good for 1500mm.
So I needed fast acquisition of the bug, to allow for guiding at this F/L and it was very faint with projection method.
I tried ISO 1600 at 5 minutes but not enough signal and the guiding starts to get a little wonky at this exposure time.
Might try the 8" Schmidt cassegrain with ED barlow tonight and see how that goes.
That was worth doing Justin. The colours are great and it looks like it guided fine. maybe a Barlow might do OK on this scope as well - possibly get tidier stars on the periphery. Regards Ray

Yep, trying the Bug with the ED barlow and 8" f/4 tonight, and if there's enough time the 8" Schmidt Cassergrain.
Well, Ya never never know if Ya never go ,,,
I rekon that a worthy time well spent Grouse job
Seeing a few bugs of late, mes getting the bug to catch bug, when the cleeewds bugga off .
Nice work & looking forward to ya others ...
That's not too shabby at all Justin; interesting to see the results of eyepiece projection. I'll be interested to see how you go with the 8" SCT / barlow combination.
Not to bad a result Justin, and I am interested in the results of the planned shots.
Just discussing using one of the cheap GSO projection lenses on a SW80EDPro with a friend to see if it's worth pursuing further as a technique for solar system objects.

Hope to get some of that ''Beautiful one day, perfect the next'' weather, as I'll be up your way next week.
Does Queensland still have some of that.

Only managed to get 20 minutes with the 8" f/4 and barlow on the past couple of nights, very cloudy!!
It will be interesting with SCT and barlow, think it will be pushing beyond the limits.

Hopefully tonight I'll get a bit more done.
I reckon projection could work quite well with the right eye piece.
Might try it with a trusty old orthoscopic.

Weather is fine here SeQld at the moment, bit of high level moisture floating around, 15°C mins & low 20-23°C max's
Lots to investigate around QLD, like Coal Mine Dust, Barrier Reef Dumps Plus traffic Jamms
Here's another image of the bug.
This time 8' f/4 and 2 x ED Barlow.
Only 20 minutes of data, better stars than EP projection but some image tilt.
Image is cropped to same size as EP projection.

Cheers,
Mario
Thanks Mario!
Will give the terrestrial bugs a go.

Been in Brisbane for two days now and the traffic is nuts !!!!!!:rol leyes:.
I presume the speed limits are a suggested guide line .
Couldn't have picked a more noisy place to stay at the Oxley Motor Inn. Handy to Oxley Police Academy for my daughter Rebecca's graduation, but it's right next the Highway!!
Good comparison there Justin - betterra stars, yep, and I think the details in the bug itself are quite sharper, good suff

Lol, thats Briz for ya - exciting joint hey
Wait till ya get to the Gold Coast - if they go any slower, they'd meet themselves going backwards BTW its the lane markings that are the suggested guidlines here mate

Out of the rat race now, up in Hervey Bay.
Hope to get some nice pics, and some night scapes.
Weather doesn't look to promising though.
