More Cicada Pics

The Green Grocers are the most prolific I've seen in many years and the noise is almost deafening at times.

Thanks Chris, I never cease to wonder at nature the older I get. Being able to take close up pics, albeit not in the same class as some of our fellow IISpacers, has given me an appetite to do more in this field. Cheers.

Nice pics Steve, I've never seen the Green ones down here only the black ones. I posted a pic of a black Cicada in this thread.

use to get a wide variety of cicadas in the blue mountains when I lived at springwood, green grocers, black knights, tom thumbs, white nurses ... moving to qld in 86 I rarely saw any of them.

they seem to be a depleting species from my experience, can hear them but rarely see them

nice pics brings back memories of these cool insects from when I was a kid

Nice shots, I walked past a couple the other day, tried to stop to watch them but the noise paired up with my tinitus made me move on quite quickly!
