Last image, ever, of Pluto the Planet?

Hello,

Is this the very last image, ever, of Pluto the Planet captured by an amateur astronomer? This animation was captured on 21st and 22nd August and shows the movement of the then Planet Pluto against the background stars.

Vixen 102mm f9 refractor.
SBIG ST7E ccd camera.
5 x 5 minute exposures.

Brisbane, Qld, Australia.
21st and 22nd August 2006

Cheers

Dennis

Wow, well done Dennis. Great capture of the new dwarf planet in our solar system!

Another top quality piece of work from you Dennis, as I've most certainly come to expect.

Hey Dennis, now that is very cool... I love the funky rocking motion of the image ... makes you want to get up and dance!

Hey there

While we are on the topic of Pluto, long before I had my own scope, and as a member of SLOOH.com. http://www.slooh.com/firstmsn2.php

I captured these pics of Pluto in June 2005, over the 11 and the 13. Hopefully, I can do the same one day with my own scope!

Hi

Thanks to everyone for those nice words. I hate to say this, but with GoTo, the ST7E ccd camera and the relatively wide field of the 4 inch refractor, this is quite a straightforward image! I really feel for Clyde Tombaugh who spent all those years searching for the mysterious Planet X.

Robert - not too sure how good your rock an' roll an' jiving are, so here is a straightened version.

Cheers

Dennis

Nice work Dennis.

I've still not captured Uranus or Neptune... so Pluto's a far-off challenge.
