Meade DSI software/patches?

I've borrowed houghy's DSI, but the CD was lost. So he gave me the CD from the LPI he also had.

What patches/updates to I need to download so that it will run the DSI?

Thanks

Mike, there's an Autostar update at:

http://www.meade.com/autostar/update/

I'm not sure if this will install/update drivers for the DSI if you haven't already got drivers. I've got a DSI CD if the update doesn't work - I'm happy to share!

It's all on the Meade website Mike, the software for the DSI can be downloaded from there. There are also some tutorials. http://www.meade.com/autostar/update/

Just found that, thanks Tony.

Problem is, when I plug the camera in, it still doesn't recognise the device. It recognised the LPI fine, but not the DSI.

I started the "Autostar Envisage" software, and I can't figure out how to use it. It looks like an image processing tool, rather than image capture.

Can anyone explain to me how to capture an image with this thing? Or get XP to recognise the DSI as a device?

Thanks

hmm it doesn't think a camera is plugged in, because XP hasn't recognised the camera yet.

Maybe the original CD has the drivers for the camera on it. The update may not update the drivers - only the application.

When I start Envisage it has a similar interface to other capture software. There are a couple of applications - there is an image processing application which I can't make sense of and a planetarium type application but when I start "Envisage" I get the capture screen.

yeh it doesn't think the camera is installed so it takes me to the image processing page.

There's a driver under meade\autostar\drivers\DSI\xp-2k but it's a .SYS file, and i'm not sure where to put it.

Windows wants a .INF file to install a device.

Funny how we all posted the link together, Mike, I think 1ponders has an original disk . I seem to remember some specific instructions on how to install as well.

That would be for autoguiding/autofocussing control John. For imaging the DSI uses USB.
Cheers

Sorry Mike, I now know where the disk is, well sort of. its in queensland, I lent it to a guy at Duckadang because he was having trouble with his dsi and needed to reload it. I must have forgotten to get it off him. The worst bit is I can't remember the guys name?

Robby, you're a legend! That worked, thanks.

Now I start the Envisage and can capture stuff, great.. except now I have to learn the completely counter-intuitive user interface to figure out how to do it. A few pop-up hints wouldn't go astray.

Oh and a 4 second capture with the cap on gives the grainiest multi-colour image i've ever seen Looking forward to this learning curve!

Anyway have a tutorial or a basic set of steps to capture something?

Glad it worked!.. Yes, good luck with Envisage. Apparently K3CCDTools is very close to releasing v3 which has support for the DSI. Will make things one hell of a lot easier!
Good luck! Looking forward to the results
