canon 40d lens

I want to get a canon 40d dslr for astro.I want to know what lens is good for it?Also i have a SW ED80 scope .am i better of conecting directly to it or mounting it on top with lens? Any info would help. THANKS

I'd suggest starting off on top Richard, unless you want to get a guidescope and guide rings to go with it. You will find this discussion from a few months ago might be enlightening.

Which widefield lens on a budget?

My Canon 17-85mm IS f4/5.6 is up for sale - wouldn't use it for astro, but great for general stuff.
