camera power supplies - OH thank you great and gracious RB
My mate on the central coast australian chook farm built me the most amazing device on the face of this earth. its a 20D converted 240V power supply(battery end) with a specially built 12V to 8v converter especially made for the 20D. RB you are a genius. it all started when I emailed him a pdf with some instructions on it to make this particular unit - my only comment was wouldnt it be brilliant to use - you could go all night at lostock. Andrews reply to me floored me when he said he could cobble it together and build the unit. So i supplied him with the lead and battery part and he built the rest, including the unique connections. I owe you bigtime Mr RB:th umbsup:
look forward to seeing you at lostock under clear skies mate
Hah – just make sure you remember all the cables and to connect them up correctly, although I do see that each connector is unique, to minimise the risk of cross connecting!

Top stuff RB!
Cheers
Dennis
he is a modern marvel Dennis, not that much different to yourself. there is no risk of cross connections
I am a complete noob when it comes to electronics (unlike my father).
Is the purpose of that gadget so that you can hook it up to a 12V car/deep cycle battery and supply all night long to your 20D?
If so, that is awesome. Andrew, can you build me one for my 350D?
Regards,
Humayun
yes it is Humayun. you need to have the AC genuine kit in the first place - although you can get one made up from Yun Chen as my cooled camera is run from that (12v source)
however there is another way you can do it. I have one similar to this for my pentax k10D. it can use any battery and here is the kicker - you can use a DC power source. i then bought a jaycar 12v variable voltage adapter with 2A capacity. lovely!!
for anyone looking for a battery grip i fully recommend these type!
I have always used the ACK-700 AC power supply for shooting my astro images.
What else do I need?
Regards,
Humayun
