Fireworks Photos

Just a few fireworks photos from tonight at the Oberon Show / Heritage and Vintage Vehicle Rally.

Oly E-510, 400 ASA, 4 sec, 14mm lens @ f/11, noise reduction off.

The colours are a little washed out I think. Next time I'll try either 200ASA, or f/16 to try to stop the fireworks from clipping. The third image has had shadows and highlights applied and saturation boosted by 20% in PS CS3.

Pretty happy with this lot though. I had time to set up and focus (manual, of course). Most recent attempts at fireworks have been last minute, ill prepared jobs, and it shows in the results to some extent.

Al.

After my first stab at firework photography, I promptly walked out and bought a carbon fibre tripod.

Those were mighty expensive fireworks

Hi Al

Wow – explosive and colourful photo’s indeed. I particularly like the 3rd one – the middle expanse of munitions exploding, reminds me of an over exposed LMC.

Cheers

Dennis

Nice photos there Al, I like how you've captured the fireworks reflections in the windscreen in #2 & #3.

Yep, complete with the SMC in the lower frame.

As I was setting up and framing the shot, I wanted the traction engines in the foreground for a bit of interest. Unfortunately the ugly red ute was parked in shot. NP I figured I can always clone it out... then the windscreen goes and gets all creative and goes shiny on me! What are you supposed to do???

Some more fireworks and existing light photos

Now it's all over, here's a few more shots of the fireworks and a couple of existing light shots from the show.

Enjoy,

Al.
