So, there is to be some substantial weather around the East of Aus due to an 'ultra long wave ridge' or more commonly known as a broad trough.
Im sure many here have seen the forecasts already, rain, thundery showers and storms etc which we all hope will be good for many drought effected areas - hopefully with out any baseball hail or 140k winds
So, I thought to start this thread for any who would like to share any reports, experiences, photos & Linked vids over the next week of possibly wild weather or just good rain
Could be quite interesting for some; and a gentle reminder, tho the majority here know :
Be safe on roads etc during this time, speshly with season holidays with Family/freinds just around the corner
As the damage bill from last week's hail storm balloons to more than $1 billion, Brisbane's disaster-weary residents are scrambling to prepare for more wet weather !!
Some falls in excess of 50mm being recorded south of the border ranges this eve.
Im kinda developing an in-stable gut feeling about all this upcoming weeks weather after last weeks Brizz's event - smells a little, i dont know, threatening for lack of a better word ?
It is a huge system & extreme outbreaks seem to be the flavor these days - just worrying somehow ?
Maybe im lacking in vitamins or somethin - ? ?
I loose out in these gestures anyway - so breathing easy tho a bit crazy at the same time
It's been thunder and lightning around Sydney for the past few hours. A tree nearby got hit yesterday. Unfortunately () it's been far enough from here that my lighning trigger isn't firing reliably.
Ask Marc how it's going down his way. That's the direction of most of the action as seen from here.

True words Andrew
Yeah, I think it was Mark who stated that Sydney Areas have had massive Light-Shows for the last 4-5 evenings
Im liking the Super Cells around SE QLD at the moment too - one in particular 'over Caboolture' now appears to be inline for the Sunshine Coasts
Gee Kev that tarp will soon fill up ,its hailing here at the moment ,some
incredible lightning .the bom warnings says severe thunderstorms cancelled ,not from were iam standing
AL
Grouse reports ther Andrew Kev & Al, and it is likely to RammP Up over the weekend and the atmosphere is primed with instability, meaning more storms and of course the Dreaded Super Cells
Personally Im still awaiting some heavey action here in the SE corner Qld, hopefully tomorow & Sunday - but with no Baseball Hail
Quote Andrew: it's been far enough from here that my lighning trigger isn't firing reliably.
mmm, Ive used a trigger and know what your sayin' - if lightning is close'ish then generally the whole sky illuminates setting it off but with distant strikes only lighting up a small area, then the trigger needs good pointing, tho if really distance, it can be very hap-hazzard
All the best ,,,

Thunderstorms have rolled across New South Wales, bringing lightning, rain, flash flooding and hail to the Blue Mountains and western Sydney.
One lightning strike started a fire at a kiosk at Rooty Hill in Sydney's west while Asquith Public School was hit by lightning as about 400 people gathered for a Christmas carols show.
About 6,000 customers lost power, although by about 9:00pm AEDT most had been restored.
Stronger winds in the upper atmosphere focus the intensity of the storms, making them more severe,
The bureau has predicted the heaviest storms will affect Sydney on Saturday, with the pattern continuing next week.
There will be some easing of storm activity on Sunday and Monday, but intensifying later in the week
4-4:30am this morn (Sat) Goldcoast 10mm'ish (Rain Gauge Flat battery!!!} in 30mins with bit bonus thunder - also snuck a flang from the backdoor !
Looking like another betterra major parcel of rain approaching the Goldcoast from the NW ATM also
I'm definitely getting sick of this persistent cloudy weather. Is this summer?
Prob why its a nice green place Barry, never been there myself, tho, ironically, im loving the cloudness here at the moment

Just contacted my daughter, coming down in buckets, thunder and lightning everywhere.
Cheers,

Ok, Im assuming bucket protecting helmets may need to be invented - would be good for the Base Ball size hail lately aswell
Hope alls good that way with her tho Justin, some of these summer storms can be quite destructive, as we know
