Carina Nebula

G'day

I found these subs from earlier in the year so I decided to put them together and moderately pleased with the result. A fair bit of colour noise due to the massive 12.5 minutes of data.

An hour or two would be lovely but this is 25x 30 second subs at ISO 6400.

Thanks for looking!
Check out the large version on Astrobin

Cheers
Jo

Wonderful image. Many details, excellent colors and very natural colors ! Very nice image. Congratulations !
I didn't see many noise. The problem, if you want to find any one, is the little drift of stars. Without this drift the details of key hole would be very better.

Exceptional colour and detail Jo. I'm outraged at the lack of exposure - you must have some really dark skies.

Thank you Jorge! Yeah it is a bit of a shame about some of the stars, hopefully I'll be able to do it again better next year.

Yeah the skies here aren't that bad, if you can control the noise you get pretty much pure data

I agree with all of the previous comments Jo - an astonishing degree of detail especially considering the limited amount of data. The combination of that scope you built, the amazingly capable 1100D, and your dark skies make a pretty top notch combination. Congratulations!
Bruce.

I'm jealous too!

When the next cyclone blows the house away, I might sell up and move to the black stump where it's dark and I'm not surrounded by 9 street lights.

A great idea Kevin, I saw the black stump once and it's pretty solid, you might be able to use it as a pier

Not a patch on your image Jo, but this image shows what a humble
SW 80mm achro can bring out @ 6400. 10X 15secs taken 6 months ago.

Nice work Raymo! That acro does a great job. Can't see much CA, is it naterally low or were you able to remove it in processing?

No processing Jo, other than RGB, Luminance, and saturation in DSS,
and a little sharpening and downsizing in PS. I'm struggling to find time
to read my PS Astronomy book, and practice with my newly acquired
PS Creative Cloud.
I have always been impressed by the very low level of CA displayed by
my budget level achro. Only a faint hint when observing the moon.
Here is the higher res version. http://www.astrobin.com/full/140917/0/

I nearly swooned when I saw Simon's comment, but a nanosecond
later I realised that he was referring to Jo's beautiful image.

Great image well done. Quite amazed by the fact that you could produce an image of that quality with 6400 ISO subs.

Cheers
