Active Region AR2733 is about to rotate off the Earth-facing side of the sun.
Below is an image taken using a Coronado 60mm external Etalon fitted to the Takahashi FS-60C scope + the CQ 1.7x module (FL=600mm), then a 2.5x Tele Vue Powermate Barlow was added (FL=1500mm). A 30mm Blocking filter and the ZWO ASI174 video camera were used to capture the image. The image is shown in inverse and in B&W.
Very nice image George, lovely fine detail. The other noticeable detail is that with the sunspot close to the limb it is obvious that the spot is in a depression, below the general level of the photosphere.
Jeff: Yes I too have noticed that looking at sunspots edge on they seen to be in a depression. Maybe some of the material has ejected out leaving a cooler void?
Ken:Thank you for your kind comment, I was lucky to have some very good seeing at the time. In this case the good seeing coincided with the hot weather coming over across the ditch from Australia. 30 degrees here and they call it a heat wave. LOL...
