Centaurus A

Finally managed to grab a galaxy through the clouds with the old C8.

5x5minutes at iso 800.

Sure shows up strange multiple problems at this length of exposure as shown by the DSS stack in the first image , despite the flats and bias. Perhaps my flats and bias are not up to the task at 5 min.

PS smart object mean stack does not seem to mangle the colour space as much.

Any one know a program which will output Adobe RGB as well as input?

Thanks anyway Alex.

That was my usual method for bright objects but it does not work so well for small faint things. Long exposures work better but there are some very strange very fine , non pixel , needle like artefacts in the dng file visible at 100% at 5 minutes along with dust on the mirror.

An ice pack on the camera. .?

Focus stacking programs can input and output adobe rgb dng but they can not cope with star fields.

Might have to take your path and buy Sh cooled Astro camera. More stuff.
