Sticky SkippySky

Hey All,
Anyone else having problems with SkippySky not displaying the current weather maps? I have emailed Andrew Cool who thinks the problem is a Mozilla cache glitch .I have done a manual Mozilla refresh which fixed the problem for a day or 2 but has now reverted to its' former position.
A Mozilla forum search didn't result in anything useful. Perhaps there's some Mozillaphiles out there that have some ideas.
Cheers, Ian.

Ian - I'm having the same hassles & also contacted Andrew.

Essentially, in order to see the latest SkippySky projections, you now have to refresh your browser cache every time you check in...!

I think this is really retrograde & will lead to many folk giving up on the site because refreshing is an extra step.

Possibly including me...!

Dean

(I'm not sure whether this issue is a result of SkippySky site changes, or because of some feature in certain browsers. I didn't have to do this refresh bizzo in the past, and I don't need to do it on other sites).

If you read the comment at the top of the site, it seems to be beyond skippysky control.

same with Chrome. Still, the site is very useful and worth the annoying extra effort to clear the cache.

Same in Safari. Easy to work around if you know about it, but still a bit wonky.

Clear cache on closing

Hi

For Firefox at least, it appears that you can set it to clear the cache when Firefox closes.

See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb...-firefox-cache

I hope it helps.

Refreshing is not the fix. At the moment it's 26/08 at 9:30am. With Chrome, I refresh and select Adelaide. +6 is 3:30am Tues 25th. +9 is 6:30am Wed 26th. +12 is 9:30am Tues 25th. +15 is 12:30pm 26th. +18 an +21 follow correct sequence and +24 is back to Tues 25th. It then oscillates until the end of the forecast period. Select Melbourne gives +6 400am Sat 22nd, +9 7:00am Wed 26th and the correct sequence thereafter. IE 11 is worse. Adelaide starts at 3:30am 22nd, goes back to 21st and proceeds to the 24th at +96, jumps 2 days to the 26th correct time at +108 and +120 jumps to 21:30pm Sunday 30th.
Just in case it's a factor, I'm using Win 7 x64 Pro.

fixed mine Ok Charles as follows:
click on the three bar symbol at top right in Chrome and go to more tools
select clear browsing data
make sure that cached images and files is selected (and that you do not get rid of anything else that you may want)
and then push the clear browsing data button

then when you go back to skippy sky it will hopefully be normal - just tried mine again and it worked.

Just tried running SkippySky in an incognito window, which should not store anything in the cache - seems to work OK and is even easier than clearing the cache.
Ctl/Shft/N brings up an incognito window, or you can access it through the three bar icon in upper right corner
