Star Adventurer 2i

Hi! I have a new SA 2i. I want to use it to move a data-logger (only 200 grams, on a vixen plate) at about three degrees per minute across an arc of sky, while the data logger does its thing.

The manual for the SA 2i suggests that this is feasible, using the Regular Exposure time lapse option. One sets the parameters on the "RT" page of the app (in my case, an iPad) once your device has connected to the SA's WiFi.

All, good, except the app won't run (it seems) without a camera connected via the 2.5mm three-segment port on the side of the SA 2i. The manual states (page 30) "Once your tripod, SA 2i and camera gear are set up and all your parameters are set, just press RUN to initiate a task".

I've plugged in such a cable, but don't have a camera which will connect to the other end. Seems that the app detects that there's no camera, or that the camera isn't turned on.

Any suggestions? James Irish
