Supernova SN2012fr in NGC1365 (RGB)

Hi folks
and thanks to Greg for alerting us to this new SN.

I stayed up tonight as the storm we have had over the past couple of days was forecast to clear after midnight. Glad I waited it out to get this data.

Barely visible are actual diffraction spikes from the spider in my RC, which goes to show how bright this is.

My webhoster is down at the moment, so I will post a full sized image tomorrow.

Cheers
Martin

Apart from the supernova Martin that's a NGC1365 image to just dream about. Great work as usual.

Finally a super clear image whilst the rest of us mere mortals dabble with shoddy little shots

I'll give it a crack tonight if the cloud participates. I was all set up last night with the astrograph when all the fluffy scud rolled over yet again.

This is what I was talking about when I said this was a large and photogenic galaxy!

A beautiful photo, Martin.

It's a great photo Martin.
If the weather would allow I'd like to do my own but I doubt I could top that.

Thanks everyone.

Yes Greg, this is the 12.5" RCOS at Yass....in operation at last.

John.....if I understand your post correctly, you think this image was taken from SRO?.

Cheers
