Don't mess with the Fuzz

Here's another go with the Sigma 50-200mm APO zoom attached to the modded Canon 550d and UVIR cut filter. This was taken in an orange zone of outer suburban Melbourne, so plenty of LP to contend with here.

The field contains the Fornax cluster, centred on NGC 1365. Happy to see plenty of faint fuzzies appearing, despite the low contrast created by the LP. Stretched the gradient to lighten the background to help show the fuzzies.

Just half an hour of 2 min subs @ f 8, 1600iso unguided on the HEQ5pro mount. Not a great shot but it will help me to frame an area of interest if I shoot this using the Esprit 100 at some stage.

Excellent. You can also use this page to zoom around any area you want to hunt faint fuzzies. Sky-map.org

Thanks Kevin, that's a cool site, plenty of interesting objects to hunt down and photograph.
If only the clouds would stay away!

I'm really getting frustrated now. Skippy sky shows some patchy areas of cloud then the night comes and it's a complete white blanket

Nice fuzzies Michael

I know how you feel Ryan. I've learnt to use these computer cloud modeling programs as a guide rather than the truth. Most of the time they are reasonably accurate but mother nature still rules! Occasionally, it can work the other way, when predictions are not favourable, you look up on a night that was supposed to be cloudy and there are none to be seen!

Absolutely no cloud here at all. However, can't see the sky for bushfire smoke! It's always something.

Remind me why we do this again ? Lol

I'm going out tonight, if it's not clear tonight when all indications say it should be, I'm moving planets ..... A nice little town house on Mars with an observertory.
