Great image of M42 you have, well done.
Ive been trying to get this target as well, it a good image to learn on.
Its the processing that is so complicated.
Today iwas having a play in an app called Snapseed and press one button called "HDR Scape" and a totally different image just popped out.
I tried it on your image (hope you dont mind) and all the cloud just popped out and the core was less exposed.
It has normally taken me hours to do the same thing but never quite getting there.
