I don't know whether this happens with other imagers, but occasionally after an imaging session, I see newly gathered raw data pop up on my monitor for the first time and think "Wow! the tracking and seeing is exceptional tonight"...hence spend extra time with a target I'd not normally spend a lot of time on.
Unfortunately they are all too rare, beautifully corrected optics can't do much with 4 arc second seeing... however it's nice to have the gear to take advantage of exceptional conditions when they do occur.
