I'm using a Uni 18 with my Vixen GPD2 mount. It is an excellent product and I recommend it. I ordered mine from Telescope Express online. You order the legs and then separately order the central hub to suit your mount.

That's a great tripod, haven't heard of any complaints.(highly regarded)
You didn't say what telescope and how you intended to use your set up.
I use my dm6 mainly on my fixed pier at home for TSA 102 and have a more portable set up with my Fsq 85 and gitzo tripod (light weight).
Can mix and match if req. and both work well together.
Congrats on the purchase, so many options to choose from!

Cheers

Hi Darren

I have a mewlon 180 on the way (visual only) , my second tak I've had a 6x30 finder on my dob for quite a few years ,tom says the 4 will carry it well because of how its weighted. I'm unsure whats the next step up from the 18, planet ? , that one looks a serious bit of wood and likely much more than i need,

I see the option at telescope express now Andy for a DM6, the 4 is still a 3/8" I believe ?

Personally I don't think you can go wrong with the Uni 18.
The only reason I went for a carbon fibre Tri pod as I use it for travel and grab and go. It's always set up with the Fsq and manfrotto video head in the spare room ready to go!

Cheers
