Spending more time in the Lagoon

Tried something different for an experiment.

Now using the esprit 150.

30 of each:
10s, 30s, 60s, 120s, 180s exposures.

Gain a constant at 140.

Then processed each set separately leaving 5 images.

The 120s result was the best outcome: Best SNR, nicest colour.

In the end I integrated all 5 sets into the one resulting image (seen below).

But strangely, that result was not much better than the 120s image....

Nice work Peter . Love the colour and the fine little details, in and around the core . The 150 esprit must be a beast . I have recently purchased a 120 esprit and it was a lot larger than I though . The scope is built like a tank

Try integrating with the HDR composition process in PI. You can adjust the mask growth and threshold to include more or less of the shorter exposures. I tried it with a similar set of exposure lengths on M42 and it did slightly improve the detail in the core, but it was very subtle. I suspect the process is better with a much greater difference in exposure lengths than I had.
