Saturn Storm, Dec 22
Here are two images of the great storm currently raging on Saturn... the first is a red-light image only which shows a fair bit of detail, and the next is an RGB image, somewhat spoiled by low quality blue data, but still shows the approximate colour and amazing brightness of this storm!
cheers, Bird

Amazing detail there bird, reminds me a little of Jupiters GRS, you can see the eye of the storm in the IR shot.

Superb work ther Bird,
Exceptionally well done, reckon there are certainly multiple cells within the structure of the storm now.
Cheers

Great images Anthony and Trevor! Just wondering - visible by eye? What filter might help? Will this set of storms last for another week or more?

Thanks for the comments - yes it should be easily visible by eye, it's bright white and a lot brighter than Saturns disk. If you want a filter, try green/blue, but it shouldn't be necessary.

Here's a much better RGB image, without overexposing the storm.

I was going to get up for this one this morning but the local winds here really killed that chance. The detail in the storm is excellent. Processing as per normal is very nice. Well done.

Thanks Paul - at the moment we have poor evening seeing and good morning seeing. Once again the seeing tonight on Jupiter is awful :-(

That is just superb detail, Jupiter in the evening was just boiling nowhere near focus. Edges of the storm really strong with excellent structure.

Whoa, they are great images. Well done. If the clouds ever disappear long enough over Qld I'd love to have a look.
