My first imaging session in 3 months happened last night. Long time between setups. After completing a polar alignment using PHD2 drift align routine, started looking for a target. NGC6744 is arguably the most similar galaxy to our own milky way in type and structure, although somewhat larger than ours. It also has a companion galaxy much like our Magellanic neighbors. It is the dimmest galaxy I have imaged so far at mag 8.5, 2 hours doesn't do it justice. I will try to add to the data when I can to try to get some more detail, although it may need a darker site to go deeper.
Hi Colin, yes it did show up OK, but it is stretched to within a breath of it's life. More time and a darker site would be beneficial I think.
Thanks Rick - it was good to grab it and get some photons at least.
Thanks for looking.
Bruce.
